The web of photovoltaic modules, also known as solar panels, converts solar energy into renewable energy. Each solar cell is built on a semiconductor material, typically silicon. Due to a physical phenomenon known as the photovoltaic effect, it is light-sensitive and generates electricity when exposed to sunlight.
Numerous interconnected photovoltaic cells make up photovoltaic modules. The modules are housed in support structures to ensure that they are correctly tilted and facing the sun. A solar power station's management systems receive the generated current collected by each module's two output terminals.
